At the third stage the product is then moved to the maturation area and placed into rows.
Material is then moved to the maturation area and placed neatly into rows called windrows. Each of these windrows is then turned starting at the bottom of the shed until we reach the top of the shed which takes 6 to 8 weeks. Turning from one row to another row which helps to aerate the compost and ensures that the heat is spread evenly though the compost.
Each windrow is batched numbered so that we can clearly identify where the material has come from and how long it has been in the maturation shed. During the maturation process we continue to remove any contaminants and rubbish from the material.
